Indonesia is famously known for its wonderful lands of great natural beauty and majestic landscapes, but these lands are also richly packed with volcanoes throughout the islands of Java, Lesser Sunda, Sumatra, and Celebes. Out of the 147 volcanoes, 76 of them are active and have the potential to lead to subsequent natural disasters.
On December 6, 2021, Mount Semeru in the Lumajang Regency of East Java erupted around 4 pm on Monday afternoon. It was a massive eruption that not only rained down toxic ashes on the villages, but within half an hour of the eruption, a major rainstorm created the situation even more difficult for the villagers and rescuers to find shelter.
